Smith Home & Co. is a place built from years of sharing, creating, and loving all things home. I began blogging back in 2017 with a few small, simple blogs where I learned just how much joy I find in documenting the process of making a house feel intentional, organized, and truly lived in. Over time, that little hobby grew into something more meaningful, and Smith Home & Co. became my space to bring all of my favorite passions together under one roof.
Here, you’ll find a blend of coastal-inspired decor, everyday organization, seasonal ideas, holiday inspiration, and the simple routines that make home feel peaceful and inviting. I love creating intentional spaces that are both beautiful and functional – rooms that work for real life, support good habits, and make daily living a little easier. Whether it’s decorating for a new season, setting up a system that actually lasts, or sharing a curated roundup of home finds, this blog is meant to be a resource for anyone who loves making home feel special.
And woven into all of that is my life as a mom. Because as much as I love decorating and organizing, motherhood is the most special part of my world. You’ll naturally find kid-related content sprinkled throughout, from product ideas and gift guides to family-friendly spaces and traditions. Smith Home & Co. reflects the whole picture of home: the pretty, the practical, the everyday moments, and everything in between.

Hi, I’m Emily, the creator of Smith Home & Co., and I’m in that busy, beautiful season of life where home truly feels like the center of everything. I’ve always been someone who notices the details, loves creating order, and finds joy in making spaces feel just right.
I’m a lifelong Midwesterner now living in southern Illinois, building a home that feels welcoming, intentional, and full of small joys. I have two young children, Leo and Eleanor, who inspire so much of what I share and remind me daily how meaningful the simple moments can be. My husband, Alex, is my steady support and the behind-the-scenes partner in many home projects. I love celebrating every season, from holidays to everyday routines. When I’m not decorating or organizing, you’ll likely find me shopping, binging YouTube and TikTok, taking the kids to their next adventure, or working in my garden.
And because life is more than pretty homes and organized drawers, here are a few things that make me me. Before this chapter of life, I was a photojournalist in the Air Force—an experience that took me from hanging out the door of a Blackhawk over the Rocky Mountains to lying in the boom pod of a KC-135 during aerial refuelings… even wearing a bite suit and trying (unsuccessfully) to outrun military working dogs. It was a whirlwind of once-in-a-lifetime moments that I’ll always treasure.
